As if I haven't been busy enough....

Managed to fit an art show in.
This one was a solo show, titled 'Illuminated Bones", held at Love of Mine gallery on Queen West...

The poster I made for the show. I still have some left over.

 Progress Shots.

This was my first time experimenting with illumination. I have endlessly been inspired by the works of local artists Shary Boyle
(she just accepted my friend request on facebook, weee!)
and my dear friend Julia Hepburn, who's encouragement and faith in me lead me to start showing my work.
Both of these lovlies work with illumination within their pieces
and I decided to incorporate elements from each of them and blend them with my own fabric work.

The pieces portray one set of imagery when they are not lit up....
To the left is 'The Apothecary' to the right is a piece titled 'Pressing shells into our bones'

Sorry for the grainy photos. Its dark in the space so the light from the pieces can be seen.
When they are lit up, you can see a new set of images.
Shadows of birds in 'The apothecary' and a rising moon in 'Pressing shells into our bones'

The piece to the right is called 'Trapped Eggs' (I think, I cant quite remember, its at another gallery right now).
When its lit up you see tree branches in the background.
The piece to the left 'Widows walk' is sold and 'The Apothecary' is being hoarded for future shows.

Detail.

Well, back to the studio for me! Or as I like to call it the 'Sussusstudio'.
Now shows til the summer means that I get extra time to put a large amount of effort into my pieces!
A luxury I have not had in over a year.

Byeee!
